A Word About Safety

We use quality products and don’t cut corners with safety – the risk to you isn’t worth it! We use high end, respected product lines, we use liners in our pedicure spas, and all of our nail care tools are carefully disinfected before use. Clients are provided with follow-up guides, and our staff is available for a telephone consult at any time if clients have any concerns with their nail care.

Many people hear about how “bad” artificial nails are for your real nails. Modern nail enhancements are very safe and help preserve and protect the natural nail.

Remember:

Extensions do not damage natural nails – UNTRAINED nail technicians do!

Nail enhancements should not cause you any discomfort, and our staff are fully trained, licensed and insured to give you a safe, beautiful service. Some non-standard, less expensive salons cut corners, leaving their clients at risk for friction burns from improper use of electric files on natural nails, nail damage from using products containing MMA, and infections resulting from improper cleaning between clients.

But with High Five Nails, you are safe in our hands.

You can continue to wear nail enhancements safely for long periods of time. There is no need to “let your nails breathe” as the only part of the nail that is still alive is the part below the skin, so there is no living or breathing being done by the part of the nail you can see. This is a very common myth, but just because it’s often heard doesn’t mean it’s true.

But should you want your enhancements removed for whatever reason, we can help you do that safely and easily, without damaging your nail plate. Please do not try to pry them off yourself as it can cause a lot of pain and damage if not done correctly (while the nail plate isn’t alive, the act of pulling on it will hurt the underlying living structures). Nails are very soft when enhancements are removed, but treating them with cuticle oil and protecting them with a proper manicure and a good top coat will help them return to their regular state in a few days.

What is MMA?

MMA (Methyl MethAcrylate) is a monomer used in some nail enhancement applications that has stirred up tons of controversy over the past few years in the US and is quickly becoming a problem in International markets. It is very dangerous but is still not illegal for use in the UK. Read more about MMA here http://www.beautyweb.com/consumer_alert_mma.htm

Please be assured that High Five Nails uses only products that are MMA-FREE.
